Favorite Music

I think that music should invoke emotions.  If a song makes you , it's a damn-good song.  My favorite music makes me sit back, close my eyes, and let it sink in.  One by one, my senses allign as the music tells me a story that I can see, hear, and feel.  Because of this, I pay more attention to the actual instrumentation in a song, rather than only the vocals (although both are important).  A terrible singer might have a band that makes up for the lack of vocal skills.  Only a truly amazing band can compose a song that builds up feeling, thought, and imagination () in its listener.  Some can even do this with no words at all, except for merely the words that make up the song's title (ex. Red Sparrowes).

The music that you'll hear on my show might incorporate some of the following:

-Lots of bass (it's my fave!), sexy bass grooves,  heavy bass lines; harsh guitar riffs, jazzy guitar, distortion, and delay on guitar; alternating rythms and volumes, abstract sounds, intricate structure, bongos, piano (especially the minor and lower keys), exotic instruments, poetic lyrics, foreign language, piercing screams, whispers,  harmonizing vocals, and leading in with one instrument at a time.

Generally speaking, I play various metal- heavy, experiemental, power, tribal, etc.  I also play a lot of alternative rock, progressive metal/rock, psychedelic, and classic rock.  Once in a while, I even throw in some jazz, funk, or electronica. 

You can listen to my show, Shock ur Chakra, on Friday mornings from 6-8 am.  You'll be glad you did. 

About

I transferred from Kansas City  to MS&T Fall 2009, and joined KMNR my first semester.  It was the best thing I ever did.

I am a junior in the Geological Engineering department.  I plan to get my Bachelors in GE with a minor in Quarry Engineering.  I am also planning to pursue a Minor in Engineering Management, as well as learn the Russian language.  With my degree, I hope to work all over the world, especially parts of Africa. 

My ulitmate career goal is to be an astronaut and conduct lunar mining on our Moon.  Although it won't happen in my lifetime, I would  to be the first woman on Mars.
