If you tuned in last week to Drop That Funk, you may recall an infectious genre, and an inability to stop grooving. Well, I couldn’t stop listening to it. Some people have told me I needed a doctor, but all I tell them is “I’M NOT CONTAGIOUS. BUT I GOT THE KINDA LOVE THAT KNOCKS YOU DOWN.”
That’s right, the funk infection won’t abate, and I, Katie Machine, have to abide. Specifically, Chromeo has been in my ears for an entire week straight, and so while I’ll be laying down the funk this morning, the sound has evolved a little since last week. Which is why this playlist is called ELECTROFUNK: THE NEXT GENERATION. I’ve got the most recent, funky fresh tracks mixed in with the retro stuff, and it’s tasty how well they mix together. The sound of spring peepers is welling up out of the dark, the sprigs are blooming… and like a dying man needs reassurance, like a choking bloom needs rain, at the end of a desperate winter spiral, I call upon the mountain bike again... And so this playlist consists of some of the best mountain bike jams I have in my possession, it’s called “Keep Pedaling,” and hopefully it inspires you to disappear in the wilderness for awhile. If spring fever isn’t aching you already, hopefully this will do it-- so stay tuned. Who knows, if it gets you good enough, maybe you’ll call in sick today.
