Imagine for a second, a creature that is half human, half machine; a Frankenstein, if you will, that had lived a life of agony, tormented and alone. It would have unnatural electricity in its eyes, and a web of sutures hiding wires that run alongside its veins. A machine that thought and felt like a human, and had the ability to voice its experiences of a dark industrial birth.
Have you got this image? Disturbing, I know, but have you got it? Now tell me, this sound this creature would make, what would it be? How could you embody the torment, the fury, the disgust, and still have the machine elements of dripping cellars, clanking metal, and the hiss of hydraulics and steam? Well I think it would sound like… industrial metal!
October means industrial metal, one of my favorite genres, and the reason for the season. Why do I love it so much? Why listen to something that makes you think of acid eaten metal, cold concrete, and singing machines? Because anything worth feeling is worth feeling right, and though the images industrial music creates in your head are dark, it feels amazing to feel them at all! And with Halloween on its way, what better way to get into the spirit than this?
