Posted By Mr. DJ Jon to Whose Show is it Anyways
Hey Everyone! This is where I kinda blog giving my coveted **Choice Picks** for this week. I had a lot of fun chosing which songs to play this week. I almost 3 hours worth of music but I eventually just cut it down to the hour and forty-five minutes. Also, I saw the new IT movie (it felt like it didn't have the huge PR push that the first part did but idk w/e)
Anyways to my **Choice Picks**
Villalobos -- Alcoachofa
•This is a techno track and it is pretty cool the robic EZZZZALEE is c'est magnifique (Richardo Villalobos and Nicolas Jaar are both from Chile and I think they did stuff together so if you like this check him out too)
808 State -- Utd. State
•Classic acid house album features Bjork on Magical Dream. Fun stuff overall. There is a funny gmod video with Pacific 202 playing. Here's the hook up :P https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5JDypdHNnw
Boards of Canada -- Geogaddi
•Their spooky album still has the BOC special sauce

Shoegaze Saturday : Any Shoegazers?! Posted Aug. 24, 2019, 5:55 p.m.
Posted By Mr. DJ Jon to Whose Show is it Anyways
First show of the incoming semester. It is an all shoegaze show so instead of doing the coveted choice picks I'll just divide the artist/songs into different styles. For the most part, there is "traditional" shoegaze consisting of "walls of noise" and noise pop + dream pop veneer. But there are other artists that utilize the guitar for ambient or in combination with electronics.
------------Traditional Shoegaze------------
Ride -- This is Not a Safe Place - A decent return to form for Ride some of the songs on the album are forgetable but R.I.D.E, Jump Jet, Future Love, and Repetition are good.
Burrn -- Blaze Down His Way Like The Space Show -- Great from Japan
My Bloody Valentine -- Loveless Kevinshieldsdrinking.gif
Slowdive -- I See the Sun A part of the many Pygmalion demos people really really like this version
Blind Mr. Jones -- Stereo Musicale Shoegaze but with a loud flute cover art is pretty interesting
Moonshake -- First EP This is before their more Post-Rock and later Trip Hop sound of Laika. Very cool shoegaze Coward samples Talk Talk's Rainbow from Spirit of Eden
Collider -- -><- (backtobackarrows) Shoegaze this year kinda normal but the later tracks get wonky really quick and it's sick
Astrobrite -- Crush Some may say Loveless worship others will say it's a step into a cave of very noisy (and I mean VERY NOISY) discography.
LSD And The Search For God -- LSD And The Search For God If the guy from Destroyer had a shoegaze band that really like MBV. Very good though
Swirlies -- Blonder Tongue Audio Baton
SWIRLIES ARE SICK
------------Electronic + Shoegaze (Not as ambient)------------
Sweet Trip -- Velocity:Design:Comfort A fun album and does this mix very well. A personal favorite of mine :)
All Natural Lemon And Lime Flavors -- Turning Into Small Shoegaze with electronic elements. Almost stereolab-y in a way.
Ifwhen -- Ifwhen Like above except got released on a Japanese label by the same folks. Not sure why but more electronic
Seefeel -- Succour This release of the IDM and Shoegaze mix group is known for blending ambient with shoegaze textures but this album has that as well as some almost techno (see Vex) + swirling guitar tracks.
Swirlies -- They Spent Their Wild Youthful Days In The Glisten SWIRLIES ARE SICK TWO (EAST COAST SHOEGAZE MUSIC)
------------Shoegaze with a more Rock elements------------
Yo La Tengo -- Painful A fun album I forgot my copy in a rental car RIP
Ultracherry -- I Fall To Pieces Washington DC Hardcore + Shoegaze it's verrrrry good (Fugazi in your Shugazi)
Candy Claws -- Ceres & Calypso In The Deep Time Varied of instrumentation very noisy but not in an aggressive manner
7% Solution -- All About Satellites And Spaceships A space rock album some would argue (aka me) it's underrated. The first two tracks are essential and are a master class on how songs can flow into each other
Emma Ruth Rundle -- On Dark Horses Very heavy but instead of a band this is a mostly singular affair. The effects work very well with the songwriting. (I personally started listening to this week and was pleasantly surprised)
Lift to Experience -- The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads Music for the post-rapture apocalypse. Remember that USA is in the middle of JerUSAlem and TEXAS YEE HAW
------------Shoegaze + Ambient elements ------------
Sweet Trip -- Halica V. 11 : Part of the Bliss out series of Darla records a fun album not as chaotic as V:D:C but not as ambient focused say Loveliescrushing or Flying Saucer Attack
Flying Saucer Attack -- Flying Saucer Attack Much more different than the other Shoegaze artists. Very spacey and utilize interesting percussion.
Silver Jews and Bryan Copland Live! Posted Aug. 10, 2019, 5:59 p.m.
Posted By Mr. DJ Jon to Whose Show: Summer Reruns
There is a definite dichotomy between the first and second half of the show today. First half consists of a tribute to David Berman from Silver Jews and Purple Mountain. I included music from him as well as other talented Americana musicians. They are all worth checking out. The second half is somewhat of my normal things with noise rock and shoegaze before the talented Bryan Copland played a short set for us. Unfortunately, Youji.O song is not online. It's good I promise! Also, I would check out the Darkness and Cold music video it's pretty good and made me smile in these times
Here's an interesting story of Silver Jews album Natural Bridge

Anyways, Bryan Copland will be playing at the local pub Public House (Rolla) from 7 PM - 10 PM tonight!

No Interviews just Tunes Posted July 27, 2019, 5:59 p.m.
Posted By Mr. DJ Jon to Whose Show: Summer Reruns
Hey everyone, so there is not a lot when it comes to interviews. I have been talking to some artists but I am taking it a little slow. I am still a graduate student after all >.>
A lot is here from mostly Lo-fi but there's shoegaze and "world" (mostly eastern European). But here's my choice picks for this week!! Good news, a lot of the bandcamp artists have pay-what-you want so there is a lot of good music for you to download (as well as stream prob). Bad news, Trasona five doesn't have all the tracks online so I put Estrogen blaster ????????????
*************Choice picks*************
Weatherday -- Comein
•A fun and loud lofi outing. It is similiar to Carseat Headrest but a bit noiser (My sputnik sweetheart is especially good :)
Emperor X -- Tectontic Membrane
•Cool dude and great music one of his earlier albums but still good
My Bloody Valentine -- Tremolo
•A Bahama sunset with goofy sampling of Balinda's vocals for Swallow (check out their EPs if you already haven't)
Bardo Pond -- Amanita
•These guys just keep releasing music in an already vast discography <>< - core
