Posted By Mr. DJ Jon to Whose Show: Summer Reruns
Hi Everyone!
Here's the link to my interview with Chad Matheny aka Emperor X. He was a greater person to talk to and interview. He is a very interesting individual and singer/songwriter. Definitely the definition of Underrated.
Here's the link to the recording. Sorry for the quality I might look into doing more with it but this is the best I can do when I am on the ground.

Of course... here's the COVETED, SUPER OBJECTIVE, END ALL BE ALL Choice Picks for this week's show.
**Choice Picks**
Emperor X -- Everything He's Released Seriously
<-------------------------Power Gap------------------------->
Ultracherry Violet -- I Fall to Pieces
•A cool shoegaze/post-rock gem from Washington DC. Has the hardcore influence too making it a unique foray into. Only release by them unfortunately.
Diners -- "Three"
•Cute indie pop. Very short and to the point.
Telstar Drugs -- Sonatine
•I will keep on saying these guys are good until I get a copy of all their releases. (Which will probably be never RIP)
Grizzly Bear -- Yellow House
•The album from GB to first have Daniel Rossen. He's great and this album is great

Hi Everyone,
Chris was an excellent person to interview and I had a great time talking to him. I was a bit nervous (especially in the beginning big oof) but here's the link to the show. It'll be public after the show.
Here's his socials if you want to follow. His insta is pretty good :)

Unfortunately, the Yoshio Suzuki track has been copystruck off of Youtube. Other songs are available to listen to but still big bummer.
AND HERE ARE MY CHOICE PICKS FOR THIS WEEK
**Choice Picks**
Obligatory it's great! Chris Hauer -- Hum
<--------------------- Power Gap --------------------->
Cheesemind -- ??????? Bay Park Serenade
•It's a fun EP tries to mix Dream pop / Shoegaze music with some City Pop elements. Not perfect but something different! Plus the label Sango has the best logo possibly ever.
Tortoise -- TNT
•They're pretty good a not as "Kraut" as "Millions Now Living Will Never Die" but just as good (if not better :)
Camberwell Now -- The Ghost Trade (All's Well Comp)
•Underrated group by Charles Haywood after This Heat. Expect nice sea shanties and cool tunes
Stereolab Dots and Loops
•.. - .----. ... / .-. . .- .-.. .-.. -.-- / --. --- --- -.. / .. / .--. .-. --- -- .. ... . .-.-.-
Mid-Air Thief -- Crumbling
•The platform here doesn't like foreign characters. It's like progressive pop (a la Grizzly Bear) but much more electronic and goes that extra step. Very good!

I'm Back from the Conference + Lisa Frank? Posted June 22, 2019, 5:50 p.m.

Hi everyone, I am back from the conference at U of I. Overall went really well. I got to check out the record store and take some photos in front of the American Football house. It looks like some of the music is not in the right order. Zoinks Also, the Pneuma release doesn't have a YT link online. So I posted a different song instead. Same thing for Black midi.
Anyways, you know the drill here are some of my "Choice Picks" for this week.
Sonic Youth -- Daydream Nation (classic)
OOIOO -- Feather Float (Boredoms-core check it out)
Chris Hauer--Hum (Fun pop songs with angular guitars)
Birch Barks -- Round (Great "folk")
Black midi -- Schlagenheim (The ""it"" band at the moment)

**Choice Picks**
My Bloody Valentine -- Live In Vancouver July 4th, 1992
--If you like noise rock with that shoegaze charm check this out. Has a monumental 17 minute "You Make me Realise" track. (14 minutes of which is noise)
Chris Hauer -- Hum
--Fun pop with that je ne sais quoi that makes this a fun album from our neighbors to our north in Canada.
Astrobrite -- Crush
--Underrated not as noisy as other releases but still a great entry point. Checkout pinkshinyultrablast or whitenoise superstar if you want louder and noiser tunes!
