DJ Diversity @ KMNR: Aashiesh Avaachat, aka ‘Master Ash’
*PHD student in Nuclear Engineering from Maharashtra, India
*International superstar
Being a grad student from overseas, Master Ash brings a very unique mind to the station. His passion of music and positive attitude towards helping in any way he can go unparalleled in the station.
“I love music more than anything in the world; KMNR gives a wonderful platform to cater to the music lover in me! Doing your own show is really the best feeling ever. I love the fact that I get to spread joy and music to people not only in Rolla, but also all over the world because KMNR has a really cool web-stream and I-phone App! Being a graduate student when I first started in KMNR , as a trainee I wondered if I could find enough time to participate in all the activities and all the responsibilities you get after becoming a DJ. But as the time went on, I was finding all these KMNR activities as a good way to unwind myself. Another awesome thing about KMNR is, it being a free format radio-station I get to play songs in my mother-tongue.
KMNR is not only about music, it’s more like a family and I have definitely found really good friends in this wonderful group of people. KMNR really made being away from my family/ friends/ country easy!”
Aashiesh’s optimism and passion towards whatever venture he decides to take on is a big reflection of the people within the station. Master Ash is just one fish in the sea of diversity that is KMNR!

I’ve learned a lot and I’ll continue learning.”
“I love the station because everyone’s different; not only when it comes to music, but who we are as people. That kind of diversity makes us a really strong group. We have people from all walks of life, majors, campus groups, etc. coming together to bring quality products to campus, in the form of radio shows, concerts, and other great events.”
Emma’s broad background fits in perfect with the station. Emma is just one fish in the sea of diversity that is KMNR!

Toni is one of the premiere lady basketball players in all of NCAA Division 2. Whether it’s popping three pointers on the court or hittin’ the 1’s and 2’s in the studio, she represents both Lady Miner Basketball and KMNR with the highest of regards.
When asked about some of challenges with time commitments, Toni responded with: “Being an athlete, I can speak for other students when I say that yes it is possible to be a DJ and still maintain your desired grade. I don’t think I have ever said this before, but joining KMNR has been by far the single most rewarding, transformative and life changing experience that I have had in my college career. The people of KMNR really accept you as family which is always warming. I play anything and everything! When I first joined, I was strictly into alternative rock and R&B. Now I listen to anything from Techno and Metal Rock to Indie and ska!”
We here at the station are so privileged to have such a shining star represent us! Toni is just one fish in the sea of diversity that is KMNR!
